Symbology is the study of signs and symbols. This can range from the common signs we see every day. Such as road signs, to the more esoteric signs, such as the meaning of two magpies.
Intuitive symbology relates to the latter. The universe is constantly sending us signs; yet, more often than not, we don’t tend to notice, unless they are really obvious. This can happen when we start to see the same thing repeatedly in a short period of time. If you see a cat on your way to work, you may not think this is significant – cats are everywhere, right? But, if you see another cat as you walk into your office building and you’re then greeted by another when you return home, then you may start to question whether this has some sort of meaning.
In the above example, this is likely to have some sort of meaning for you. You can look up the meaning of cats in a dream book to get a starting point, but if you want to understand intuitive symbology, you should first of all, think about what cats mean to you personally. If you had cats when you were a child and you loved these childhood pets, then you can assume that the sign the universe is giving is a good one. On the other hand, if you hate cats and are scared of them clawing you, then perhaps the message is a warning of some sort.
Use your intuition to help you identify the exact message the universe wants you to pay attention to. The universe will send you signs when there is a lesson you need to learn. Something in your life is likely to be out of balance and the universe wants to help you. In the above example, if you hate cats, this could be a warning sign to watch out for people who may not have your best interests at heart. If you love cats it could be a sign that you need to play more, like you did as a child.
Once you have thought about what the symbol means to you, look it up in a dream dictionary to get extra information about the sign. The universe likes to send signs that aren’t immediately obvious as the subconscious mind can accept those messages more readily. After you have done this, use your intuition to help you identify why the universe chose to send you this particular sign. Is there anything going on in your life that needs improvement? Is there something you’re scared of?
You can further develop your intuitive symbology, by deliberately looking out for the signs that the universe is sending you every day. Be mindful of your surroundings; so many people wander around in a daze, or they rush around, eager to get to where they’re going. It is harder for the universe to communicate with you if you do either of these things. Try to leave for work earlier, if you can, so you can really pay attention to the sights, sounds and smells around you.
Another important part of understanding intuitive symbology is to do regular meditation. By clearing your mind, you are telling the universe that you are open to the messages it wants to send to you.
